Podcast with Aletha Williams
Get to know Aletha:
Aletha Williams is a native of Jamaica. Her parents decided that the entire family should relocate to the United States for better opportunities. They did not know that all of their certifications were null and void. Watching her family struggle to pay bills, Aletha used her education opportunities to enter the United States Naval Academy. She graduated from the Naval Academy in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in English and a minor in French.
She received her commission as an officer and became one of the first waves of women to serve on combat ships. In 2003, Aletha’s career was placed on hold when she was diagnosed with cancer. At that time, the Navy did not have a sabbatical protocol, and thus, her actions to go to shore duty was a career stopper. Even more stressful, Aletha decided to risk her cancer getting worse when she decided to have her second and last child. She thanks God every day that she survived and has been cancer free for seventeen years.
Aletha retired from the Navy after 20 years of service with two master’s degrees, Information Systems Operations (ISO) and a Master of Science in System Engineering (MSSE).
Currently, Aletha is pursuing her Ph.D. in Mind and Body Medicine with a subspecialty in Integrative
Wellness Coaching (IWC). She is a partner in a skincare line called Love and Care Natural Aromatherapy.
She also recently opened her Life Coaching business as a Spiritual & Transformational Life Coach called Inner Starr Compass Healing. Her services include life coaching, reiki, soul art, and eventually, equine-
assisted therapy.
Aletha enjoys painting, journaling, and traveling. When not working, she enjoys learning something new from a mentor. She finds it exhilarating to keep her mind stimulated by learning new things. She hopes that the world becomes more collaborative and kind towards each other and our home.
